He's Got Your Back

This is the week. Our first grandbaby will arrive and change our lives forever.  

That first child is the most joyful and frightening thing, both at the same time. I remember well, Guy's excitement and heavy responsibility 25 years ago. Now, that baby boy is experiencing the same. As my firstborn becomes a dad, I can't help but be grateful for my husband. His love, time, fortitude, and desire to equip our kids will be passed on. They can't help it...they do what you did...hopefully, tweeked and improved with each generation. Don't be just like us, be better. 

I saw a painting by Steve Hanks called " Time With Dad", years ago, and it looked so much like Guy and Jesse, It was incredible.  I decided to use it to inspire my own version of this favorite. It reminds me that Jesse will not be fathering alone. Guy will always be behind him. Always there for advice, support and even correction if welcomed. Not to mention how much Guy loves holding babies...and secretly inciting a little mischief 😉...he'll be a fantastic granddad. This baby is doubly blessed, because his other grandad, Steve, is of the same quality...like bookends, keeping this kid together...fishing and football forever 😁.

With all the violence and family failure these days, appreciating a good and dedicated dad, is paramount. Dad is vital to a healthy society. Throwing him away is like tearing down a pillar. The house will fall. Seeing clips of these riots, feels like boys crying out for dad. 

Our sons need their dads. To have their back,  to show them how and to inspire courage. 

Having the same blood isn't a prerequisite to being a good dad either. There are plenty of great dads out their for those who have lost theirs. Find one...be one...father the fatherless, and look to the perfect example in Jesus. Always available and dying to wrap his arms around you...He's got your back.
